Barcelona hotel
 

I need a hotel right on Plaza Catalunya. Will be drop in that area after a post cruise tour. . A walkable short distance carrying a med. size wheeled suitcase.

Okay! Do you have a budget in mind? Or dates? There are several options in Plaça Catalunya, so a little more information would be useful. If you don't have any preference, then I guess just about anything will do.

You could try Hotel Gran Via on Gran Via, just off Passage de Gracia, & about a 5 minute walk from Placa Catalunya.

3* 4* tops. I mean walking distance, just few meters from the plaza. The date will be November 4.

I liked stay at http://www.hoteles-catalonia.com/en/...unya/index.jsp, but when it was still called Catalonia Duques de Bergara. It is one building off from the Plaza.

For a nice 4-star within a couple of minutes walk would be the Hotel Avenida Palace. It's a classic 4-star with excellent rooms and outstanding service. Very centrally located.

The Hotel Pulitzer would be another decent choice, a little more modern.

The Rodger de Lluria is a few minutes further away, just off the Gran Via, but is a quality property (www.rogerdelluria.com/) that might fit your needs.

A few meters! That's more like a few steps than a walking distance. Actually it makes easier to make a recommendation. Above mentioned Gran Via and Veneida Palace are much farther than that, up the slightly uphill Gracia street. I can walk that but not what you say you are looking for. There is H10 Cataluny Plaza right at the Plaça Catalunya 3* (or maybe 4*?), across the Plaça from El Corte Ingles department store. Could be the only hotel facing the Plaça. Stayed there 10 years ago (yes a long time ago). I don't recall any problem with that hotel. The reception had a complementary cava sparkling wine as welcome drink at check-in. The next closest from Plaça Catalunya seems above mentioned Catalonia Plaza Cataluña (former Catalonia Duques de Bergara).

We've stayed in both of these and they are good, solid 4 stars.

We really liked the Hotel Regina just a block off the Plaza.

It's a 4 star, nice sized rooms, great breakfasts and very friendly staff.
