Barcelona Hotel
 

We'll be arriving in Barcelona by ship on Easter Sunday, 4/4/10. Can anyone recommend an inexpensive hotel or B & B (under $100./night)? I know many places are already booked, and we would like to make a reservation ASAP.

There is a big list on madridman.com of hostals in Barcelona. Note that hostals are small pensione type hotels. The ones designated youth hostels are more of the bare-bones group-type hostel.

Hostal Orleans is basic but quite all right and good value (double room, 60€ in top season/Easter). Location is ideal, on the outskirts of the Born area and Barrio Gótico and a 10 min walk to the sea/beach. Close to some of the best tapas bars and wine-bars in town.

If you would pay a little more: Hotel Banys Orientals (100€) is excellent and ideally situated in the hearth of the old town. Double room, 100€. It was on Condé Nast Traveller 2004 list of "10 most recommended hotels in the Mediterranean". http://www.hotelbanysorientals.com/
