Can you recommend a nice, reasonable hotel where the major sightseeing is easily accessible?

Try this hotel: Principal. I stayed there two nights, ten days ago. Pleasant hotel with handy parking (if a bit dear), one block behind Las Ramblas. Breakfast included. Loads of bars and restaurants about. The street outside was being dug up, but i never heard it.

Before departing on our cruise we stayed at the Hotel Balmes. It was clean a block away from Las Ramblas.

Hotel Continental on Las Ramblas near Catalunya metro. About €80-90 per double.

Check the Apsis Atrium palace. We paid 130 euros last summer. Very modern rooms and bathrooms. free internet. Is in Gran Via, not too far from Plaza Catalunya

Another vote for the Atrium Palace. Two blocks from Placa Catalunya; the breakfast buffet is very extensive and good.

Modern rooms with marble baths; front rooms on the Gran Via itself have small balconies but no street noise.
