Barcelona - for NON seafood lovers
My wife and I are off for 4 nights in Barcelona on the 25th July, but neither of us are avid seafood fans. We both enjoy, Tapas, Italian, and general Mediterranean cuisine. Do you have any recommendations? Don't mind paying circa 100-120 Euros for us both for 1 special night, but would appreciate your help for this and 3 more reasonably priced places. Staying at the Arts. Neither of us speak Spanish/Catalan. Thanks, Richard.

And it probably doesn't help much given the location of the Arts down there amongst all those seafood restaurants. I know it probably isn't as much comfort but given the quality of the service in that hotel I am certain the concierge will give you a whole host of good recommendationsm if you don't get them here, but I think you will. My previous eating experiences in Barcelona included seafood and a whole lot more. I don't think you'll be disappointed and have a great trip.

La Dama is in a Gaudi-type building, beautifully preserved. It's former life was an apartment and all the beautiful pocket doors and architectural details have been preserved. Dinner for 2 cost us about 130 euros plus tip (including wine for 2 and I had the 5 course tasting menu). My meat course was venison. One of the most memorable dinners.
Have lunch or dinner at La Tajia Florio, C. Villarrod 190. You will need to take metro or cab, but worth it. Our lunch with wine was 40 euro, dinner about 60. Just the appetizer buffet would make an excellent lunch. Must have a semifredo with warm chocolate sauce for dessert. Lovely to see extended families on long Saturday lunch there. At Tragaluz, Passeig de Garcia 60, we had very tender and flavorful pork as wel as a veal parpale, Dinner for 2 cost about 80 euros. Barcelona is an excellent city for dining, you should eat very well in your budget. Spaniards told me this was the best Italian restaurant in the city. |
I just got back from Barcelona on July 4th. I like seafood but not a steady diet of it! Attached is my trip report, it includes info on Italian restaurants. Have a wonderful time!
