Barcelona for 3 or 4 days

Our cruise leaves from Barcelona and we'd like to spend several days there ahead of time. Are we giving it enough time with 3 or 4 extra days? Are there any special restaurants, hotels that you really loved? We'd love to know if anyone has "must sees" in the outlying areas around the city, too. It's our first time to Spain!

Hi M,

There are a couple of current threads about B.

Look up 'Barcelona' under "search the forums".

You can see a lot in 3 or 4 days. Each day do a museum for a few hours, and then wander around the city. I recommend the National Museum of Catalonia for its Romanesque frescoes.

Thanks, Ira, I found a ton! Looks like we'll need at least 3 full days, maybe 4 for a side trip to Monserrat.

I was surprised about the purse theft. I always carry my Magellan slash-proof bag across my body and have never had a problem anywhere. Lots of handy compartments, too.

Hi mairseydotes,

we went to Barcelona for a 3 night/2 1/2 day trip a couple of years ago, and i definitely felt that and extra day, or even 2, would have been better. it is a big city and the centre, though linked by the metro, is still quite extensive.

I'm sure you'll have a great trip.
