Barcelona experts... can you check out this apt location?

A group of 5 of us are going to Barcelona over Christmas-NYE this year. We found an apartment that looks great. Can you please tell me if the location looks OK? We want to be able to easily walk to restaurants, shops, and the metro. What is the neighborhood like?
Thanks in advance!

While I'm not an expert I've been many times in Barcelona so I'll give you my opinion :) I think it's a good location, not "where the action is" but not far enough to be out of everything. I think you will be able to do everything you say there easily.

It depends on the age of the people in your group and what you want to be up while stayingthere.Do you just want a base for doing day time tours, or are you planning wild lively nights etc.Rememebr it is like most cities, the nearer the action the more it will cost you for a bed. I stayed in this place http://www.hostal-centric.com/ it was nice and clean the staff were friendly it was about 10 maybe 25 mins walk away from Las Rambles. till within walking distance of the port were we used Barcelona Bus Turístic
company for your tours in the day. we paid for a 2 day pass it lets you get on and off as much as you like and they also gave us a booklet of discount tickets for allsorts of things.I can't reallu comment on you area as I just went there to see the un finished church and then jumped back on a bus. We spend most evenings in bars or resturants off La Rambla. They seeme to have all types of palces thatwould suite most people.
Use this website as a guide

click on to the Barcelona Bus Turístic
link this is a bus tour guide and they have a small map of the bus tour on the site. using that map as a guide and the redaing up on the districts. It should give you an idea of were things are and you can thern decide if that is were you wnat to stay.

Thanks to both of you. We are a family of two in their early fifties and three in our twenties. We will likely stay out for a late dinner and maybe drinks afterwards, but no clubbing or anything like that.

For what you guys want, that is a great location. It is near the first 1 star hotel I ever stayed at (back when I was 17!) and I remember having to walk a lot to get to the clubs, but I also remember enjoying blissfully quiet nights thanks to no drunken insanity on the street.

Also, remember that BCN is a fabulous walking city and you will enjoy walking to and from, and if you are tired, there are always cabs or the metro. The buses are great, too, and perhaps the apartmentt company will have a list of the ones relevant to you so that you don't have to figure it out.
