Barcelona Drought
Has the drought in Barcelona affected tourism?
should we avoid Barcelona this summer? Don't want to contribute to their problems and don't want to suffer. K |
Came back from Barcelona last week. I didn't realize they had a drought problem. The trees were coming out, the parks look green and leafy.
We had glorious weather, so frankly I'm glad we didn't have any rain. Why would you suffer even if tehy have a drought? |
and were the showers 'full flow'?
or low flow (that Morley Seinfeld once said when he heard his building would be installing low flow showers - 'low flow, i don't like the sound of that' I think showers and reduced water may be the only effect possible on tourism? |
No, in fact, it rained heavily last week and problems are solved. But really, it was not going to affect tourism...just golf courses and pools.

Sooorry, it was not last week, but two weeks ago.

Let's see...one month ago the situation was as bad as is now or much worse...and no tourist in Barcelona batted an eyelash. It is not a thing affecting tourists because there are no restrictions on water now.It is just for precaution because the summer comes and maybe it won't rain again in months and the level in Barcelona is very low for such a big city. That's what I was trying to say. It's a problem we have in Spain every year, and though this year seems to be worse, it is not unusual to have water transported, last year it was to the Balearic Islands...and the number of tourists didn't change.
Some of us are very concerned about it, but even with the menace of a serious draught..many politicians are still giving permits to build golf courses in severely dried areas. |
last thursday, friday, saturday was torrential downpour in Barcelona.
The papers said it produced about half of catalunya's annual rainfall. it was wet. no drought on the horizon. |
>> So why is Barcelona importing water by tanker?
