Barcelona Day trips
 

Looking for sugestions on day trips from Barcelona. Have teens. Open to anything!

Our family (2 adults and an 11 year old child) just came back from Barcelona. Here are some easy side trips that you might enjoy:<BR>Monserrat Monastery: breathtaking scenery. Our &quot;tween&quot;loved it. Takes about 1 hr to get there. If you can, take a bus tour (buses depart from the main tourist office:forgot the name of the plaza, but it is right next to La Rambla). Don't forget the umbrella: Monserrat is located high in the mountain and the weather there is different than in the valley. <BR>Costa Brava: can't miss the Mediterranean! The further north you go, the less touristy it is.<BR>In Barcelona we stayed in hotel Intercontinental La Rambla (right on La Rambla): a real bargain (only 60-80eu/night for a double)<BR>Hope it helps,<BR>Katie

Hi Dan,<BR><BR>Sitges is a resort town just South of Barcelona. Something there for everyone.

i agree with john and Katie.<BR>may be the two better places to visit near to Barcelona are Sitges (37 Kms south), or the Monestir of Montserrat (about 60 Kms east), the teens enjoy both.-<BR>but remember that in the city you have the turist bus (you can take it the times that you like in one day) that drive arround the turist places, like the olimpic stadium, sagrada familia, catedral, etc<BR>if you need additional information please send me a e-mail<BR>Rgards<BR>Josep Maria

There are as many things to do around Barcelona than in Barcelona...<BR><BR>If you have teenagers, there's no way you can go wrong with the Dali Museum in Figueres. To get there, just go to Sants or Passeig de Gracia train stations. It takes about 70 minutes to get there. It has to be the coolest museum anywhere! Going back to Barcelona, you may stop at Girona. It is a very nice little town with an interesting medieval quarter. Kinda like the Barri Gotic, but a lot cleaner and with less people.<BR><BR>If you are planning on renting a car, you can go to Poblet and Santas Creus. These are two monasteries south of Barcelona, on the A7. The scenery is just as dramatic as Montserrat, except that there's a lot less people, and the place itself is (IMHO) much more worth it. Poblet is just amazing, and Santas Creus has a rather corny but interesting presentation (the tour is all about lights, music, dialogue and doors that open by themselves)<BR><BR>Try going to Tibidabo. The view is amazing and your teens may like going to the top, getting into the church and climbing the steps. To get there you need to get on the FGC to the station peu del funicular. Alternatively, you may also try the tranvia blau, if it is running when you are there.
