Barcelona commuter and long distance trains quite a mess
Just FYI
Due to unforeseen ( unfortunately) empty pockets in the earth where they are building the high speed AVE Madrid- Barcelona tunnels approaching barcelona.. there have been 7 cave-ins.
The project has been put on hold until new tests, etc. are done.
in the meantime this has affected a few commuter trains, including the euromed from valencia which now only goes as far as Tarragona, from where you need to take a provided bus, adding quite a bit to the trip.
the trains from the airport are also replaced by buses.as is most of the local transport, causing quite an upset.
traffic is much heavier so judge accordingly.

and seemingly rightly so, aduchamp.
i think this is the biggest structural error in decades in this country.
it will be interesting to see if an offical explanation is given before the elections.

Lin, I doubt about the explanations.
If I am not wrong, the most affected line is the C2, that goes from Barcelona up to Sitges and beyond. I know that it has been recommended before for visitors looking for a beach destination near Barcelona. Nowadays it wouldn´t be really relaxing to stay there.

The big In-Water Boat Show starts this weekend in Barcelona, so lots of people will be trying to use the trains to get there.
I have been warned to drive and not try the train...both options sound bad... last year they had about 200k visitors so it should be bedlam. Caveat to Barcelona bound people. Rouss

Be prepared to pay A LOT to get to airport...we paid 36 Euros yesterday morning ( a heafty bit more than the 24 we paid on Sat to get in) and it took a very long time. Extraordinary car traffic due to the problems.
