Barcelona Christmas activity

We will arrive in Barcelona on Dec. 26. Will the Christmas market by the Cathedral still be open? Until Jan 6?

How about Christmas decorations on the Ramblas? Will they still be up? For how long?

Are there any other places in BCN where they have Christmas markets?

Anyone?

26 Dec falls on a Friday this year, so everything should be fairly normal.

Christmas decorations will be up through then end of the Christmas season, which is 6 Jan 09.

Hi Julie,
The Christmas market should still be up and should go until Epiphany (or at least that's the case in Madrid). Can't tell you about other markets because we were there after Epiphany. Ditto to the Xmas lights-they stay up until after Epiphany. Will you be there on Jan. 5 for the Magi Kings Procession in the evening? They arrive in Barcelona by boat.

You probably already know that Dec. 26 is an official holiday in Catalunya-San Esteban.

So having the Christmas markets and decorations remain up will be a bonus. Alas, we must leave on the 4th, so we'll not get to see the Kings sail into town.

Since we'll arrive on the 26th and mostly be walking around to explore our neighborhood, I don't expect problems due to the holiday.

Thanks for the info. Hopefully I'll get my itinerary up by tomorrow.
