Barcelona Choices. Help!
Well, I hate to put it to you like this:

We now have reservations at two very different kinds of places in
Barcelona. Help me decide what to do:

CHOICE A: Historic 35 room hotel , no air conditioning, two separate
rooms with double beds and balconies overlooking exciting (and probably
noisy) Ramblas (see map
My family (me, my husband, two kids ages 8 and 16) is visiting Barcelona for 3 nights in July this summer. Right now we have reservations at two places: The Continental (rooms with balconies) and Hostel Eden located in the Esqeixample district. We're weighing the relative merits and disadvantages (mainly noise being on the Rambla vs staying in a lower quality place in an area I know nothing about). Can anyone advise us on what we can expect on a Sat-Monday on the Ramblas in the Continental? Also, what's the Esqueixample district like?
Thanks! I've found a lot of helpful info on this forum already.
You will need air conditioning in July.

I agree with Frank, plus the Ramblas is noisy. I rejected a hotel there for that reason only.

Stay in Eixample - it's much cleaner, quieter and classier!

Ramblas is noisy, can be more dangerous and if you don't have air conditioning, you will truly suffer.
