Barcelona beach hotel

Hi everyone, I will be in Barcelona two days prior to a Disney cruise this summer. I have just blown my budget on a hotel in Paris and am now looking for a moderately priced hotel on the beach in Barcelona with good access to restaurants and the downtown area. Wife also wouldn't mind a nice apartment with a washer and dryer If one is available for two nights. We are five so need two rooms for everything. I thank you in advance for your suggestions.

Forget about a hotel on the beach in Barcelona. Depending on your budget, there are a number of good options.

Hi Robert, would you mind elaborating in your preferred hotel for a family of five?

Check out the Hotel Regencia Colon - they have decent triples and reasonable prices. Great location. A beach hotel is actually inconvenient for most of the rest of the city altho it is certainly an area that is great for people watching from lunch at an outdoor cafe. Enjoy!

You can check the rates at the 3-star Hotel Inglaterra, which belongs to the Majestic Hotel Group (http://www.hotel-inglaterra.com/en/). It has a great location and excellent staff. You will need two rooms, one triple, one double. Their prices in July range from €126 to €136/night, lower in August.

Hi Robert2533,
Thanks very much for your recommendation of the hotel inglaterra. That is the type of hotel I would not find on my own. As I have children along with me on this trip and they would like to have a pool can you recommend a similar great hotel with a pool. My budget is up to €350 a night for both rooms if that helps. Thank you for your help.

Oh, you can get a room at the beach in some hotel such as the Arts but you aren't going to get it within your budget and frankly I would stay elsewhere anyway.

Check out the Acta hotels, particularly the Atrium Palace which has an INDOOR pool and the place is VERY well-located, i.e., two blocks from the Placa Catalunya and the Metro.

You could always go to http://www.booking.com/
Look up The city and then you can hone down your requirements like beach, location price range and pool.
The reviews are perhaps the most honest on the web as they are written by persons who have stayed at said hotel. However the reviews do not give all of the picture. ;-)

Hotel Jazz is in the same great location. Practically across the street from Inglaterra, has double and triple rooms, and a rooftop pool.

Robert2533 Apr 13th, 2013 07:44 PM

If you stay at the Hotel inglaterra, you have access to the rooftop pool, as well as all of the other services, at the 5-star Hotel Majestic GL, not a bad option.

You might also want to consider booking one of the two-bedroom apartments at the Hotel Majestic Residence (www.majesticresidence.es). It's a great place to stay. The rates in late June are as low as €354/night for the Eixample apartment for 4 people (2 bedrooms with queen size bed or twin beds).

And yes the Hotel Jazz is a good possibility, but the best one for a pool, both a rooftop and lower level pool, is the Hotel 1898, but it will be out of your budget for two rooms.

Thank you all for your excellent suggestions regarding where to stay in Barcelona. After speaking with the family this morning, we've decided that a beach hotel is the best option for us considering we will be off of a 5 day Paris tour and prior to a cruise.
The two areas of interest right now seem to be the diagonal Mar area with the Hilton, AC forum, versus the barceloneta district with the Barcelona Pullman Skipper and others.
Considering our desire to have easy beach access and proximity to a hop on hop off tour bus which area would the board suggests? Which beach is better? I.e white sand, easy swimming for kids, lots of restaurants.
Thanking you all in advance.
