Barcelona appartment is it a good location ?
 

Hi !

we could have found an appartment for us (2 adults and 2 kids) The appartement is located on the corner of Carrer de Muntaner and Carre de Londres. Diagonal metro station is at 10 minutes walk.

Is it central enough to get to all the first time in Barcelona tourist sites and is it safe ?

That would be a bit far for me. My last visit I stayed on Carrer des Balmes just north of Carrer d'Arago, and that was very convenient.

Since we are travelling with kids, we dont really care about bars, nightlife and fancy restaurants. Maybe we should found another place to stay ?

Carrer Aribau "is a beautiful old, dramatic street with strong bold architecture and sums up the “Eixample barrio“". During daytime it's just a very nice street, and the Muntaner/Londres corner is nice and quiet. Neither Son Hao nor Paca Meralgo are fancy restaurants, just very good, and plenty of restaurants and tapas bars around here that are just simply very popular with locals.

But you should perhaps try to find an apartment in the medieval El Born district, narrow streets, great cafés and tapas bars, a cradle of Catalan identity and culture, interesting sights and close to "everything". I am just another tourist, I don't work in the Spanish tourist biz or fixate on food, and I would recommend finding another place in the Eixample, which I find easily the nicest area of Barcelona. I just think your current location is too far from the "Block of Discord" and Placa de Catalunya. Also, have you checked that it is a legal rental? (I think it should have a registration number.)

If you can, find a place a bit closer to Catalunya ,,,( the very center of Barcelona )
I would stay in Eixaple area;
El Born is atmospheric and interesting, but also very crowded ,
especially at night.

appartments near Catalunya are really more expensive (of course it's not an hidden treasure ! )

I also seen an appartment near Rocafort metro. Would it be better ?

Is it bettre to stay near Sagrada familia or the one In my first post (Muntaner and Londres) is better ?

Is there any reason to check if its a legal appartment ?

There is an issue in Barcelona with rental apts . that are not registered
I.e. legal.
If possible pose the link of the apts.
Public transit in Barcelona is excellent ,not being in the very center
is not necessary.

Rocafort is a few metro stops to Catalunya...

Technically, the person renting the apartment is the one breaking the law, not the renter. However, you might consider how you feel about aiding and abetting a law breaker. There is also a slight possibility that an illegal rental might be pulled from the market without notice, leaving you needing to find a replacement.

Sagrada Familia is not central.

Why don't you plot the places you want to visit on a map, and decide on that basis.

Abouth places we want to visit:

-Everything related to Gaudi
-Tamblas
-Medieval quarter

Very touristic stuff that everyone going to Barcelona for a first time will do !

Another option is an appartment between Glories and monumental station (corner of Diagonal and Carrer de los Castillejos)

Central Eixample - preferably close to Passeig de Gracia - would then perhaps be your best option: close to Casa Mila and Casa Battlo, close to Las Ramblas and the Gothic quarter, and not that far from Sagrada Familia.

But, again, medieval El Born would IMO be more interesting - Eixample is very upscale and modern - and you would still be in the heart of the city, next door to the Gothic quarter and the cathedral and a five mins walk to Placa Catalunya and ten mins to Las Ramblas.
