Dear everyone,

Me and my hubby are planning to go to Barcelona for 5 days. We have absolutely no clue how are the other places around in Spain.

We would like to see some scenic places with beautiful beaches along with Barcelona city.

We want to explore some places which are closer to Barcelona so we wont waste time in travelling.

Please please help us with the trip plan.

With only five days (does this include travelling or is it time on the ground?)you'll hardly have time to see everything that there is to do in Barcelona itself. However, if you want a day away from the city, then without trying to state the obvious, you can go up the coast onto the Costa Brava or down to Sitges area.

You can catch a train to Sitges and be there in around 30 minutes, so it's much more accessible. However, the nicer scenery is to the North, up the coast. Look at Tossa de Mar, Bay of Roses area.

To get around to the north, I'd recommend hiring a car for ease of getting around, you won't need one for Sitges.

Some tips about Barcelona itself outside the most obvious.

- The vibe and local atmosphere in the bars, cafes and restaurants in the Barceloneta area, just inland from the beach with the same name: http://www.theguardian.com/travel/20...taurants-spain

To me three full days for the average tourist is fine in Barcelona itself but you can take some tasty short day trips - Sitges as rubicund suggest (but don't be bashful about gays - it is one of Europe's primo gay resorts and I remember getting off the train to see two guys kissing on the platform!) - but a nice town and gorgeous beach.

My favorite day trip from Barcelona goes to Montserrat, a thriving pilgrimage mecca high up in the hills - takes about an hour all told to take the suburban train and then aerial cable way up to this ancient pilgrimage site perched on a mountain top - ornate basilica holds the holy relics - the Black Madonna (I think) - a small black statue of Madonna that folks line up to pray too in hopes of whatever. There is a trail to walk around in a lovely setting -a Way of the Cross trail if I recall correctly.

another nice day tripo goes north by train to Figueras, a so-so town with the allcaimed Dali Museum - full of yeh Dali stuff - if a Dali fan it's only about an hour by train.

Gerona is a sweet ancient town that is about a half-hour by train.

IMO don't just see Barcelona but some of Catalonia that surrounds it as well.

Catalonia no longers allows bullfights so that is not an option.

That's Parc Guell. Unfortunately, not all of it is free anymore, but it is worth visiting.
