Barcelona airport to Hotel

This replaces the topic added to the lounge by mistake...Doh

Hi,
4 of us are going to be in Barcelona staying at:
Hesperia Del Port Hotel
Avenida Paralelo, 40, 08001Barcelona, Spain

Just wondering if anyone can suggest the best public transport method and ticket choice to get from the airport to this hotel.
Arriving around midday.
Of course we could pick up a taxi, but Aerobus is one option, but I think the nearest drop off to the hotel is to Plaza de Catalunya, guess the metro would be the best from there.

Or maybe train ?

Any thoughts?

Thanks

Muck

We stayed at that hotel and it was in a great location and a very nice hotel. Hotel is very secure as you must be buzzed in by the receptionist at the front desk.

We took the Aerobus and here is the info from the hotel's website on directions:

Aerobus:
There are bus stops at every terminal to go from the airport to Plaça Catalunya. From Plaça Catalunya, you can take metro line L3 towards Ciutat Universitaria and get off after three stops at the Paral·lel stop. Exit and walk for approximately five minutes to reach the hotel. It will be on the left hand side.

Depending on the amount and weight of your luggage, you could walk if a nice day and you like to walk.

The official airport website gives you all the details you need to know: Time of day will affect prices and services.

So I am no expert and shouldn't be arguing with the hotel. But it seems to me it would be faster to get off the airport bus at Plaça d'Espanya (the first stop from Terminal one) and take subway line 3 the other way two stops to the Parallel stop. Then walk.

The Aerobus costs 5.30pP plus the additional ticket for the metro which would be .9pP if you do it with the cheapest option of the T-10 pass. So your budget for public transport transfer adds up to around 25 euros.

For €25-30 you should easily get one taxi from the airport. Tell the dispatcher (if you arrive at new Terminal 1) that you travel together and need a bigger van.

In addition, navigating Pl Catalunya metro station on first day with jetlag and luggage is no fun.

If you still plan to test public transport, you should get off the Aerobus already at Universitat and change to metro L2 to Paral.lel from there. Pink L2 is "accessible" so you will have elevators for the lugagge.

cold.. technically you are right, but Pl. Espanya is a major pain to navigate with luggage as there are mostly just stairs and long underground passages.

Thanks to you all for your suggestions.
This is just what I need.
Taxi probably makes sense with 4 of us.

We are arriving at T2. Presumably Taxi's are right outside?

Thanks

You will find that a cab is well worth the investment..tired tourists do not fare all that well navigating metros, buses etc in a new place. Find out the cost before getting into the cab. Some charges are extra ie: bagsm extra people and traffic running up a meter.

taxis in barcelona are pretty cheap, it should not cost more that 25 - 30 (as Cowboy says) euros to get from the airport to parallel (i used to live in the area) bare in mind though that you will be charged per bag in the trunk. however split between 4 people a trip shouldnt cost too much and it makes sense if you are tired, and with bags. pickpockets target tourists getting off the aerobus there in the plaza which is annoying if you are a first time traveller to BCN. take a taxi and navigate the metro and buses without major luggage. have fun! barcelona is awesome!
