Barcelona Airport Hotel for 10:00 flight
Leaving for Barcelona on Friday 12/17 and getting very excited! Haven't seen our study-abroad college son since August. After 3 nights in Barcelona, where he'll be our tour guide, we fly Vueling to Seville for 5 nights. This will be our home base in Andalusia and we plan to take day trips to Cordoba and Cadiz, possibly Granada (is this possible?). We return to Barcelona Sunday 12/26 before our return home at 10 a.m. Monday 12/27. Interested in recommendations for final night hotel in Barcelona. Would like easy transport to the airport but want a memorable final night in Barcelona. We are a multi-generational family of five (grandmother, parents, adult son and daughter). Many thanks!

Not a memorable night, but Barcelo Sants hotel is above the Barcelona Sants train station and the direct airport train. It's on the Metro so easy to get around Barcelona also.

The airport is not far from the city so stay in town.. We made the mistake of staying at the airport as we had a very early flight.

Easy to get to the airport by taxi :25-30 euros is worth
spending the last evening in the city. IMO Taking a train with 5 people (and luggage) would not be my choice. |
I had the same question in May. We'd never been to Barcelona before, and had some angst about a 9 AM flight, so decided to stay our last night at one of the airport hotels. Checked in; took the shuttle into town; had a very memorable last evening and night; took the shuttle back to the airport/hotel, and didn't have any worries in the morning.
Probably not what I'd do the next time, but it worked fine. Just FYI. |
Staying in town it will be! Many thanks for your help in deciding. Adios!

It shouldn't be a problem for adults to hop a train with luggage to the airport. If that is a concern, there is the airport bus from the Placa Catalunya area (lots of hotels within a few blocks).

Daytrip to Granada from Sevilla would be too much, about three hours with train/bus each way.
Watch out for flamenco-inspired Christmas songs, so called villancicos, in Sevilla. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ltDBAXXnqI And be sure to visit the oldest tapas bar/restaurant in Spain, El Rinconcillo dating from 1670. http://azahar-sevilla.com/sevilletap...l-rinconcillo/ http://www.elrinconcillo.es/en/home.html This site gives great info on Sevilla: http://www.exploreseville.com/ Barcelona and Sevilla is a fabulous combination. Very different and both among the absolute most fascinating Spanish cities, and that says a lot! |
