Barcelona Accommodation Prices - Help Needed

I have been actively searching the various apartment rental sites (vrbo, airbnb, booking) and the costs seem to be higher than I anticipated. We are planning to stay 14 nights in Barcelona and the price is coming out to somewhere between $4000 - $7000. Is this normal? I haven't encountered these prices before and we have travelled to many USA locations, Rome and Croatia. I am looking for a 2 bedroom apartment and I do need the kitchen to prepare meals. Any input or advice here would be appreciated.

Please say when you intend to visit, as costs vary across the season.

Yo didn't indicate when you will be there - I would imagine the high season for tourism is summer and holidays. That said, we are staying at this 2-bdrm airbnb apartment - but it will be in early May, so maybe it's more expensive at other times.

We have rented two nice apartments, well located, from Habitat Apartments. We found them to be efficient and professional. I checked and they have apartments in July, for example, beginning about $150-160 per night. That is reasonable for that time of year in Barcelona.

Sorry completely forgot to mention that we are travelling the second and third week of June.
whitehall I will check out their site - thanks!

For some reason early July is a lot less than June. Is there an event going on? I tried one bedroom and see you need two. How about airbnb? For example "Bonito Apartamento junto a Ramblas," 2 beds. About $150. But they have others.

Thanks whitehall I'll give that a try.

It would be easier if you looked at €. I get the impression a small part of the difference is CAD vs US $.

There is

Feast of Sant Joan third week of June

Wit Monday the second week. Much less important.

But in general I'd think it's late to be booking apartments for June. booking.com is showing various options for mid June starting at €170 a night. Cheapest apartment is €240 a night
