Barcelona
Three of us females are travelling to Barcelona from the 15th - 21 of April. We need some suggestions for what to do and see.

There is great information on Barcelona in Maribel's guide at www.maribelsguides.com.
I think the hop on and off bus works well for Barcelona, where many sites are pretty well spread out over a large area. There are three different routes and you can buy a ticket for one or two days. http://www.barcelonabusturistic.cat/web/guest/home One of the things unique to Barcelona is the wealth of moderniste architecture, by Gaudi and others. The Boqueria market on Las Ramblas is a wonderful experience. |
I found the museum of the city of Barcelona fascinating, with its tour through the ancient Roman ruins underlying the city.
The maritime museum is located in the beautifully preserved medieval shipyards and is well worth a visit. You can take a gondola ride over the harbor from the Barceloneta waterfront near the beach up to the top of Montjuic, where there is an outdoor cafe with wonderful views. More great views from the bar Mirablau on the way up to Tibidabo, the behind the city. You reach it by vintage trolleys, the Tramvia Blau, and from there you can take a funicular to the top of the hill, where there is a great view and an amusement park. You might be interested in my trip report. It is from a few years ago but describes many of the places I really enjoyed. http://www.fodors.com/community/euro...rip-report.cfm |
The tourist bureau located in Plaza Catalunya offers some very good walking tours. For a good overview, check out the Gothic area tour. Also don't miss all the Gaudi buildings and of course, have some tapas.

We were in Barcelona this past October. You can click on my name & read my trip report, which gives lots of details. Briefly, for sightseeing, I recommend Sagrada Familia, Casa Battlo, Casa Mila, Parc Guell, La Cascada (a magnificent fountain but can't remember the name of the park it is located in; but check out my trip report) Boqueria Market, Gothic Quarter, Montjuic, the harbor.

So lucky you're going to Barcelona!!! I just love it!!!
Good recommendations form Kwoo, the place he named La Cascada is the Montjuic fountain, you just have to go there, it's really beatiful with music and fountains... Also, you really have to go to Park Guell, it is a wonderful park that I really liked. A must see, especially if the weather is good. I found this article about Parc Guell you might find interesting, http://www.desigbarcelona.com/blog/e...n=parc%2Bguell |
