Is a 2 nite, 3 day side trip to Barcelona enough time to plan as a side trip prior to travel to Italy? The rates to Barcelona, and then on to Italy are about the same as the rate to fly directly from London to Italy end of July/beginning of August. If you feel time-frame warrants the trip, then I would appreciate recommendations. Also, feelings on a 9:30PM arrival time? Thanks

Barcelona is hopping into morning. 9:30 is just about time to go out to dinner.
I would suggest at least 3 full days. |
Thank you, any recommendations for dining, moderate hotels, site seeing for parents and a 28 year old?

if you type Barcelona in the search function, you will get a ton of info.

The most unique aspect of Barcelona - and for me the main reason to visit - is Gaudi. Just exploring the four or five main Gaudi sites in the city will easily take two days. Even though 2 to 3 days isn't a lot of time, it is enough to get a feel for the city, and - if you are like me - just long enough to fall completely in love with it. Definitely, definitely go!

Lots of great information on Barcelona in Maribel's guide at www.maribelsguides.com.
If you arrive at 9:30 PM on day 1 and leave after two nights, you do not really have three days in Barcelona. You really have just one full day. |
Thanks for the suggestions. Actually we would arrive 9:30 pm on the 30th and leave 6:20 pm on Aug.3, so I actually have 3 nites in Barcelona. My flight arrangements are still flexible. I am trying to see if the amount of time is feasible.

Take a look at great Hotel Banys Orientals in the middle of "everything" in Barcelona. In the beautiful and vibrant El Born area, excellent sights, great cafés, fantastic tapas bars/restaurants on your doorstep. 10 mins walking to the Barceloneta beach. 100€ for a double: http://www.hotelbanysorientals.com/en/index.html

Thanks Kimhe; I am definitely researching your above links and am so far impressed with the Hotel Banys Otientals. I appreciate your advice.
