Barcelona, 4 nights which neighborhood?
 

Hello, my husband and I will be traveling to Barcelona for 4 nights with our 1 year old. We are looking to rent an apartment but overwhelmed which one to choose. We are gravitating towards Eixample or El Born. Anyone familiar with these two neighborhoods that can help me narrow done our choices and which street / block would be best to rent an apartment? When we travel we usually like staying in an area that's within walking distance to major sights, easy access to public transportation, good proximity to cafes, grocery store, shopping, pedestrian only areas are a plus, not too loud or touristy etc.

Example is a big area...,
The very centre of Barcelona is Plaza de Catalunya...that might help.
A specific street or block is hard to pin point.
Major sights are not in one spot, metro is easy to use, taxis are cheap.

Eixemple isn't really a neighborhood, exactly, it's a large part of the city, a district. Probably has hundreds of blocks in it, to be honest, if not thousands and is about 3 square miles. El Born is more of a neigborhood, a smaller area, in any case, although I thin it is really a district, also. here's some info

I use to stay in vibrant and medieval El Born, a cradle of Catalan identity and culture, great sights, tapas bars, restaurants, terraces and - so they say - shopping. Stay a little away from beautiful Passeig del Born because of the noise from the many excellent bars here into the night. Perfect and central base for a four day stay with a one year old.

I live in El Born and I would recommend it for your stay, although I have to agree with the earlier comment that Passeig del Born can get noisy at night.

You have the beaches of Barceloneta within walking distance in El Born and also some of the best cultural attractions to visit, such as the Picasso museum and spectacular Santa Maria del Mar church.
