Bannockburn and Stirling, Scotland

We will be travelling from Glasgow to Edinburgh by train later this month and would like to make a stopover to visit Stirling Castle and Bannockburn. As we will have our luggage with us, can anyone tell me if there is a place to leave it while we tour around? I have read that there are lockers in the bus station across the road from the train station. Also, is there a bus service that would get us to Bannockburn?
Thanks.

Stirling is an easy day trip from both Edinburgh and Glasgow (which are only an hour apart anyhow so you might want to reconsider why you are changing cities).

No need to do it as a stopover

Stirling is easy to visit from either Glasgow or Edinburgh on a day trip, the train between Glasgow and Edinburgh goes nowhere near Stirling so no point in breaking a journey that will take less than an hour.
years ago there used to be a HoHo bus that covered all the sites but local buses or a taxi will get you to Bannockburn , the castle is walkable from the train station.

When exactly later this month? Not sure if you're aware but the weekend of June 28 and 29 sees the Bannockburn Live event marking the 700th anniversary of the battle.

As the others say -- Even though it is sort of between the two cities, Stirling is not a stop over from Glasgow to Edinburgh. Just go to Edinburgh and then one day while there take a quick train trip up to Stirling. Plus that would solve the luggage issue.

Thanks very much everyone! I think we will just do a day trip from Edinburgh. That sounds like the best plan.
