just a quick question. i (and wife and 2 grandaughters, 9 and 11) had planned on visiting the tower of london on monday may 26. found out it was a bank holiday there. would it make much of a difference if we went first thing monday or waited for tuesday. had planned on monday as i have tix for ceremony of the keys monday night.

Don't worry about linking the Ceremony of the Keys and your touring of the Tower. They are really different things. IMO it is much more important to go to the Tower on Tues when the crowds will be half the size than to make sure you've toured it prior to the ceremony.

Besides - doing both on the same day is sort of difficult logistics-wise. Since the Tower closes hours before the Keys Ceremony it means leaving the area and then coming back at 9:30 PM.

So just make your lives easier and go to the Ceremony on Monday night and then tour the Tower on Tuesday.

While 27th will be less crowded than 26th, that week is half term school holiday for most parts of UK and there will be plenty of families visiting London and its attractions. So expect it to be busy on Tuesday as well. To avoid the long line at the ticket booths, book online at http://www.hrp.org.uk/TowerOfLondon/...s/default.aspx

Tues will have crowds - but nothing like the Monday. I've been at the Tower twice on bank holidays over the years and it has been slammed.

If the adults have paper travelcards they can get a 2-for-1 offer on the Tower from www.2for1entry.co.uk

You should also be able to find the leaflet with the offers at main train station booking offices
