Band B choice

We are planning a trip in March to London with a teenage daughter. We are considering staying at Euro Hotel in Bloomsbury, Abbey House or Vicarage Private Hotel in Kensington? Anyone stay at any of these places? What about the areas? Thanks in advance.

Jim, if you don't get any responses on this one, mention London and a few of the B&B's you are looking at in the title, you may get more folks who have good advice. Hope this helps.

We stayed at the Euro last February (see post - Euro Hotel). Bloomsbury is great. Just try to stay at least a couple of blocks south of Kings Cross (seedy).

If you stay near Russell Square or The British Museum ,you will find yourself in a very convenient part of Bloomsbury. You will be minutes from 2 Tube Stations( Russell Square & Tottenham Court Road) and you will also be in walking distance of Covent Garden and Soho, Oxford Street, and many of the West End theaters.
There are groceries, drug stores, lots of restaurants, and an internet cafe nearby.

Just a warning about the Euro Hotel in Bloomsbury. We tried to stay there in March 2003 for 76 pounds a night. They gave us a room on the first floor that had no locks on the windows and a roof outside. Anyone with a 6 foot ladder could easily enter the room. We asked to be moved, but they told us they were full and that there was nothing they could do to secure the window. We checked out and stay at the Harlingford Hotel for 90 a night.

The differences between the 76 pound Euro Hotel room and the 90 pound Harlingford Hotel were tremendous.

I STRONGLY recommend if anyone is looking at either of the two hotels to pay the extra for the Harlingford. Be sure to ask for a third or top floor room though. The rooms are small, not sure about any A/C and no lift to the top floor, but it was perfect and secure for us.

The staff at the Harlingford was very nice. Can't say anything good about the Euro Hotel though.
