Bamberg accomodation
I have been having a difficult time finding a reasonably priced place to stay in Bamberg from 23.12.04-27.12.04. Many places are already booked for Christmas. I am looking for a double room under 6o euros if possible. (websites would be appreciated!)
Thanks for any help. |
I don't know if you have already checked the Bamberg website, but it gives links to a number of different accommodations:
http://www.bamberg.info/www_tks/homeen_268_89_7_f.htm Can't recommend any myself because I am just researching for our trip in May. |
We will be there in February and are hoping to stay at Hotel Brudermuhle... but I believe they are closer to 11E a night.
Have you been able to find any information as to winter hours for most of the main sights? I am having next to no luck! |
I'm sorry - that should read "100E" per night

Thanks for the replies!
TexasAggie, I am also having a difficult time finding a lot of info about Bamberg. www.Bamberg.info is the best (and one of the only) websites I have found. The Brudermuhle is supposed to be great, it is just above my budget. Many of the less expensive places I have emailed have either not responded or are already full. I am thinking that my German (or lack of it!) may be part of the problem. Jean |
hello carryonbagage,
my favorite bookingmachine for Germany (and some more countries) is hrs.de. The lowest possible room rate they can offer for your dates is 49 Euro (double room, breakfast 9 extra) for the Ibis hotel (ibishotel.com). Then it's 60 (incl. breakfast) at Graupner Gaestehaus (hotel-graupner.de), 68 at Altenburgblick (altenburgblick.de), 70 at... |
Is there a website for Hotel Brudermuhle? We are also looking for a nice place to stay for Christmas (honeymoon).
|
www.brudermuehle.de
There's some information in English bur click through the German part as well - more photos etc. |
I have stayed at the Ibis and it is pretty basic but it does have its own parking garage.
|
Anyone familiar with the Brudermuhle recall how long they usually take to reply to a reservation inquiry? I submitted one through their website on Monday, and then sent an email on Wednesday (because I had not heard back) and still nothing.
I'm not in a huge rush, but we do want to stay there Valentine's Day night and I'd hate for them to fill up! |

As always, I recommend you stay in a Ferienwohnung (fully equipped flat).
I have found several on the Bamberg city website that sleep up to four people at around 40E a night for the unit (i.e. not pp). How many of you are travelling together and do you have transport? If so let me know and I will give you some addresses. <[email protected]> Harzer |
We stayed in this very nice Ferienwohnung a while back: Runs about 50 Euros/night:
http://www.die-fewo.de/renate.html location is good - walkable into old tonw, not far from train station. (in German, but w/pictures) Owner is friendly, helpful, and speaks good English - give him a call. |
Thanks to everyone for all of the great info! I now have plenty of websites to keep me busy for the next few days!
