BALMORAL OR THE HOWARD IN EDINBURGH?

Has anyone stayed at these hotels? I like smaller "quaint" hotels, but my husband doesn't like "too small", and especially doesn't feel comfortable in B&B's.

I haven't stayed at either, but the Balmoral is huge, so maybe you'd be better at the Howard. I have only heard good things.

If you are prepared to remortgage your house, then stay at the Balmoral. The phrase "an arm and a leg" comes to mind.

I haven't done it yet, but I have seen pretty good deals for the Balmoral on latebookings.com

You can get the Balmoral for £100 - £130 on the internet, possibly less. It is huge but still has character, I'm not sure about quaint though. The location is excellent.

I've never stayed at the Howard so can't comment on that one.
