Ballet tickets for Prague State Opera
 

Hi, I don't know if anybody here can put my mind at rest. I purchased some tickets for the ballet a couple of weeks ago (from a Czech company). These are for a performance in November and the tickets are for Cinderella. However, I looked on the Prague State Opera house page and have noticed (with some horror!) that the performance has changed and they are now doing Midsummer Night's Dream. I have sent two emails to the company from where I bought the tickets, asking if they will still be valid - but I've had no reply.
So, can anybody tell me, please, if we turn up with these tickets, for this date, that they'll let us in? I really don't fancy an argument in Czech!

I rather doubt that you can get into a performance with the wrong ticket.

Is it possible that may be confusing the month and day of the performance? You know in Europe they will write 12/11 for Nov. 12th.

They are doing Midsummers Night's dream on Dec. 11th (11/12) but Cinderella on Nov. 12th (12/11).

Thanks for your reply. No, I haven't got the date muddled (I am in Europe, so I'm used to how the dates are written!). We have tickets for 28th November. For Cinderella. It was Cinderella for that date on the Prague State Opera website too - but they've changed it to A Midsummer Night's Dream. So, it is their change - and perhaps I should write and ask them! This isn't something you want to happen, when you think you have your short trip all planned out!

oh, well if it's the 28th then that couldn't have been it, but it seemed so coincidental, I thought maybe.

If the venue changed the performance, then it may be a possibility, but you'd better check. I know where I live, if they have to change a performance for some reason (some orchestra cancels, etc.), you have to get a refund or ticket for a different date, you can't just use that ticket for whatever was substituted for the same date, as they sell separate tickets for that event and two people could have the same seat. But if these are both ballets by the same company, it sounds more likely you may be able to use them. Good luck.

All is well, Christina! I've had a reply from the ticket sellers, and they've assured me that the tickets are valid.

That's good. I read a review of that performance, and it actually sounds like it will be very interesting, fresh and different, so it should be quite enjoyable. Of course, you can't go wrong with Prokofiev and Cinderella, but the other will be something you can't see elsewhere.
