Balearic Islands for 10 days - Ibiza and Majorca - How many days in each?

I'll be vacationing in the Balearic Islands during the first half of June with my best friend. We are savvy female travelers in our late 30's. I am single, she is not.

We were thinking of going to Ibiza for a few days to party it up and then to Majorca to relax, eat great food, explore, massages, sun bathe etc. Does that sound about right?

Also, I'm not sure what part of Majorca to stay in. We would like a place that is:

-relaxing but not in the middle of nowhere
-the less children the better
-we aren't looking for the single scene but definitely not a couple's scene either.
-we love wine, we love to eat great food, we love culture, we love people watching, and socializing

I checked out Fodor's recommendation of to La Residencia Hotel and one word came to mind, WOW!!!!!!!! This would be PERFECT only if it weren't so expensive. $700 per night!! I would consider $300 - $400 but anything over that is way too much.

All help is greatly appreciated!!

There are many hotels on Mallorca that offer a similar style to La Residencia but haven't got the international reputation or location. It has been argued that LR is trading on its name and is being left behind.

Many are on :

but this

seems to be all the rage at the moment. It is new and well reviewed by the British press.

Personally, I would spend 10 days on Mallorca. There is enough to keep you occupied and set aside time to relax. I haven't been to Ibiza for many years but I am fairly certain that the cultural scene isn't as developed as Mallorca.

Thanks Humptynumpty!

Capro Cat looks AMAZING!! I thought I just found our solution until I reviewed the prices. $780 per night! Way out of our price range. :(

I'll check out the other link you posted.

Thanks so much for the info!

Sorry LKL I missed the $ not £ signs.

Have a look at "The Other Mallorca" website many of the country house hotels are around $300 a night.

We have also stayed here, it's lovely.
