baggage fees

I know when flying to/from Europe you are allowed one bag "for free". I will land in PHL & transfer to a domestic flight. If I check my bag will I have to pay for the flight within the US?? This is on US Air. Thanks.

Interesting question.

If it is all on one ticket you should be allowed the international baggage allowance on the US leg too. If it is on a separate ticket US rules apply.

Sorry meant to say so your bags will be free on the national part too, if it's one ticket.

Your bag is checked thru to you final destination. You will claim it at PHL, go thru customs and immediately re-check it. At least that's the way it works at DFW. It's not an airline issue, it a baggage handling issue.
