Baggae Insurance

Had 4 bags lost by AA on the way to Europe, and now on the way back I wanted to insure the bags.
Does anyone know who other than AMEX Platinum insures bags going International, if the ticket was not purchased by CC but with points? AMEX does NOT cover anything, unless they were Amex points, not AA points.
Has anyone had any experience with the carriers excess coverage.
They lost the bags for 3 days, the first days were biz meetings. That should teach me not to wear jeans on the plane.

No ideas?

What kind of coverage do you have under your homeowner policy? You may not need to buy separate insurance, though my homeowners would cover only replacement of items that are stolen or lost permanently, not the inconvenience and small expenses incurred in waiting 3 days for them.

YOu can wear whatever you want on the plane. Just be sure you bring a change of clothes (and I pack a couple of sets of lingerie) in your carry-on.

Homeowners is not a possiblilty. They cancel policies now with any claims.

I will see at the airport how much AA charges.

I'm not exactly sure what kind of recovery you're looking for. I thought when bags were lost, the airline would give you some kind of allowance to buy some necessities (underwear, toothbrush). I can't imagine them paying for replacements for items that are lost for 3 days. Keep us posted - if AA offers some kind of "insurance", it would be good to know.

Those are 2 seperate issues. AA did not give any compensation for the 3 days, nor did I press the matter with them.

What I am worried about is losing the bags, wherein AA's limit is about $9 a lb so so, which doesn't cover anything close to the value of the contents. This si the type of Insurance I am speaking of.

AA sells coverage at the airport desk at about 2% of the value up to $5K I found out.
