Baeza , Ubeda information hotels
 

Hi Early this year we stayed in the Parador in Ubeda and enjoyed very much both cities: Ubeda and Baeza. We are considering staying next time in Baeza, has anyone stayed in a hotel in Baeza? Or for that matter in UBeda.?

I've stayed in the much smaller and sleepier Baeza at a hotel I wouldn't necessarily return to (I was with a touring youth orchestra), but I would stay again in Baeza at the Palacete Santa Ana. I think you would like it.

In Ubeda, I've always stayed at the Parador, but the Palacio de la Rambla is really, really atmospheric as well. A true mansion that takes in a few paying guests, and it's a member of the lovely Rusticae group.

Forgot to mention the name of my hotel in Baeza, It was the 3 star TRH Baeza, at that time called the Ciudad de Baeza. Our orchestra group stayed there because it was the only hotel large enough to accomodate 2 bus loads. Our orchestra performed in Ubeda at the International Music Festival in late June. The TRH Baeza was nice enough, installed in a former convent, quite pleasant in fact, with cute rooms, but I would never trade the Parador or the Palacio de la Rambla in Ubeda for it. I think Ubeda has more to offer. I would return to Ubeda-Baeza during Holy Week in a second! The processions were very moving in their solemnity.

If you haven't explored the Cazorla Park yet, I highly, highly recommend it! In fact, I would love to spend a few days in the Cazorla Parador. It's a secluded location but in a marvelous setting. We went for lunch during Holy Week, and I fell in love with the place. It's certainly not a Parador where one would go to spend just 1 night, however, because of its remoteness, a full 25 km. from Cazorla.
But a scenic drive through the park itself makes a wonderful day trip from Ubeda.

There's a new Rusticae property in Ubeda that I haven't seen, "Las Casas del Cónsul" which just entered the Rusticae group this year.

At Baeza I stayed at Hotel Juanito, because it houses famous Restaurant Juanito, the best in the region, and I wanted my bed near my table! The rooms were brand new, but that was some years ago. I'll post something more tomorrow.

The Parador, "El Adelantado" in Cazorla Park is an absolute delight. With only 35 roms, it's very cozy, homey, and it has a pool with amazing views, an the restaurant excels in game dishes. The Parador offers 4x4 excursions into the park. I highly recommend this!

yes, I am in Spain, in Malaga. I travel as much as I can, by car and secondary roads. I spent several days in Baeza (and Ubeda)ten years ago, the rural tourism boom was at its very start, and were opening two new hotels there (there was only one, the Juanito, and several pensions). I'll gladly help you with any info you want.
