Baden-Baden Info
 

Stopping in Baden-Baden mid September.<BR><BR>Would welcome any comments on what I should do while there.<BR><BR>Serious answers please - there appears to be some nerds who use this forum to get their jollies.

In October 1996 I spent 2 nights in Baden-Baden and it was a lovely town. We walked thru a beautiful park, past the old spas and over bridges and then listened to a concert (free) on a pedestrian street (high end shops) near the casino. The tour of casino was amazing - quite beautiful and well worth the time.

Does "stopping by" mean a few daytime hours only? If it means more than here are some suggestions:<BR><BR>1. Go to the casino - - everything I expected from Monte Carlo, and maybe more. Dress up.<BR><BR>2. For dinner (pre-casino, for example), I would recommend Schloss Neuweier - - about 10 minutes outside Baden-Baden. Or if you are feeling like a bit more of a drive - - 50-90 minutes, check out one of Germany's highest culinary experiences at Hotel Tonbach-Traube in Baiersbronn.<BR><BR>Best wishes,<BR><BR>Rex<BR>

Made my first visit to Baden-Baden this summer and found it quiet enjoyable. The city has a great bus system so it's a snap to get where you want to go. Stayed at the Deutcher Kaiser, a nice inexpensive hotel. Great beer, and roast pork, is to be found at the Lowenbrau Gardens in the center of town. Go to the baths, the older one of the two is clothes free though it might be a bit nippy in September!!

I was in Baden-Baden this past May and also in September in 2000. Enjoyed it very much both times. Stayed at Hotel Beeg the first visit and Hotel Atlantic the second. Recommend both although they're quite different. The tourist office was quite helpful with suggestions of what to do in town. In September I took one of the local buses outside of B-B to the "wine country" -- it was lovely. Both times took advantage of the Friedrichsbad, the older spa in town. If you like spa-ing, you'd enjoy this! In May, I also hopped on the train and went to Freiberg, about a half hour away. If you want more details, please e-mail me directly.
