Back from two weeks in France

I just returned from two wonderful weeks in France and would be willing to answer any questions that I might have an answer to. I spent a week & a half in Annecy, south of Geneva, and three nights in Paris.

I'd like to thank all those that answered my questions before I left (the last minute purchase of the TGV ticket worked fine) I think the only way I survived two weeks with out all of you was because I was doing what we all talk about - travelling! How quick can next years two weeks come?
Hi- I'll be around Annecy for a few days in July and will drive from there to Megeve. What did you do that you would you recommend? Thanks in advance for any advice.

Adina,

I spent a lot of my time just relaxing in the parks & walking through the old city. There are lots of parks and the old city has lots of canals lined with cafes & restaurants. There's also a nice market Tuesdays, Fridays & Sundays.

There's also lots of water sports available, from simple sunbathing to wind surfing, to lake cruises, as it's on one of Europe's cleanest lakes.

I also saw people doing some hang-gliding (or parachuting, not sure), lots of roller blading & cycling too.

The only draw back is that if you're there on the weekend you might find traffic to be horrendous. It's only a two lane road around the lake and even at the begining of the tourist season it was packed on Saturday & Sunday. Try to hit it during the week if you can.

Any other questions I'll be glad to help with, just e-mail me.

Daniel
Ming,

The best area for price and location would be the Latin Quarter. It's close most of the main sites and is student minded. There are also lots of ethnic restaurants in the area that are very reasonably priced.

I stayed in the 18th district, close to Sacre Couer at Hotel Caulaincourt, a nice tourist class (1 star) hotel. It was a bit far from every thing though, but price-wise nearly unbeatable - a single with shower, toilet down the hall, cost me 200FF, continental breakfast was another 25FF.

Any more details feel free to e-mail me.

Daniel
