Back from London and only visited 2 museums!!
We just returned from 2 glorious weeks in London. We stayed at The Royal Park Hotel @ Lancaster Gate. It was a great property and a great location(midway between Paddington and Lancaster Gate tube stops).
Each day we picked a different "neighborhood" to explore, and I'm sure we wound up walking close to 150 miles during our stay.
We also took day trips to Cambridge, Greenwich and Brighton.
Quick highlights:
1) Tate Modern Museum
2) Buying 5 pound standing room tickets at the Globe Theatre at the last minute.
3) "Camelot" at Regents Park outdoor theatre
4) Boat trip on the Thames all the way to Greenwich
5) the food...unlike our last visit 5 years ago, this time every meal was great!
Word of caution...bring $$$$. For Americans every price you see must be DOUBLED.

Roomiec,
Which neighborhoods did you like the best? Where did you eat? etc. etc. I DEMAND a better trip report!!
(I've got my pen and paper ready to take notes)
BTW, I bet you had a GREAT time at the Globe as a "groundling" ... I have such great memories! (What did you see?)

From Atlanta,
We saw "Much Ado...". I'm not normally a big fan of Shakespeare, but did enjoy this performance.
As for the meals:
Frontline Restaurant Norfolk Place(W2)
Excellent fish and Burgers.
La Porchetta Pizzeria(3 locations) we ate in Islington, which is an up and coming "West Village" type area
Royal Dragon(Chinatown) Great Duck.
Miso Restaurant(Islington) great sushi and noodles
Ask-even though a chain, the food was very good(Italian)
Will post other spots as I go through my notes.

Can you tell me what your thoughts are about Brighton? I'm going to London in 3 weeks, and was considering a day trip to Brighton or Rye. I'm leaning towards Rye, but I'm not 100% decided. I'd love to hear your impression of Brighton.

roomiec- I hope you see this and can let me know if there are many restaurants or shops in the immediate area of the Royal Park Hotel. We're considering it for an October visit to London. Your advice would be much appreciated!
