Back from Ireland, many thanks!!

I just want to thank those who so kindly allowed all my questions and more important, the accurate information that made my trip so excellent.

I spent 11 days in Ireland, flying into Dublin and out of Shannon. Some points to consider- the driving was more difficult than I had anticipated. :) Very narrow roads that the speed limits are grossly overrated. You do need to be on your toes and forget about much sightseeing. :) Get all the insurance you can. It helped greatly to pick up as we were leaving Dublin since most of this driving is "freeway" type, allows you to get used to the other side without all the cliffs to consider later.

$100 US bills were not accepted anywhere, including Bank Of Ireland which was suggested I try. So don't take more than $50 bills.

I had booked all my lodging ahead since I needed a triple room. If only needing a double, could have easily waited until I got there. But was very convenient to have it all done ahead. I had perfect weather, full views for both the ROK and Dingle. :) I'm afraid to consider going back!!!

I stayed in the Avalon Hostel in Dublin in a private triple room, an excellent bargain and wonderful experience. I didn't realize how important this superb location would be. City bus from airport drop off at the corner and walkable to everywhere, City Center.

Again thanks for all the help in fine tuning a wonderful trip for me. :)

Welcome home. I'm happy you had a nice time on your trip. I hope you'll write us a trip report and give us more info, what you did about laundry and all the little details. My Best, Joan

Sorry, I don't do trip reports. :)

As for the laundry- self service was essentially nowhere to be found. I did use the machine at Avalon House, which they recently installed. Dryer, did not work well, as the clothes were VERY damp after an hour of drying.

I ended up using Gleason's in Killarney, drop off service for 10 euros per load for 2 loads. No complaints. :)

But it was tough for me as I am a travel light packer and always do laundry on my trips.
