Heading to Andalucia Nov 5th for 14 days. Wondering how long I should spend in Seville. Is 4 days sufficient or too many? Hoping the weather will not be too wet. Thanks in advance.

Rain in Seville is a rarity...but you never know

I am flying into Seville to meet up with friends for a hiking holiday. was thinking of flying in a few days ealier on my own and wonder if 4 days total in seville was too much or if I should go to Huelva for two days and then meet up with them in seville for 2 full days before starting our hiking.

Unless you have been there already I would make my way to the Alhambra in Granada.

Great report. Yes what is so great about Spain is the lifestyle which reflects the way they developed their beautiful cities and towns. Why couldn't they have developed them like that in the U.S.? It's just amazing how in the middle of an orange desert these fantastic cities like Granada or Sevilla were designed. That's the reason tapas will never be popular in the US. Most of us live in the suburbs. Then again they don't have seven elevens in spain! I always try to tell people not to try to jump all over Spain and see as many sights as possible. You need to spend a couple/few days and relax, take walks and absorb the culture.

yes, I've done that part of andalucia. ending up in Ronda and flying home from Malaga, wondering whether to spend 21/2 days in Ronda or an extra day in Malaga. any thots?

We have lots of "7/11's in Spain. Even some of them are called "7/11". Also other convenience shops catering to the late night crowd. Many gas stations now sell everything from bread to ice cream and fresh croissants.

they also still sell crap flamenco cds and old porn videos transferred to dvd, 5litre bottles of olive oil, plastic toys which fall apart to threaten your kids lives,ceramics and tubs of pringles

tangwah, the only reason i can think of for anyone to go to huelva is to visit the penitentiary - either involuntarily or to visit an inmate. there's really not much there; beaches are ok but as good on eastern c de la luz, which has everything gonig for it that huelva doesn't...hills are quite pretty but you'll be seeingp lenty of those...towns are dull...huelva itself is quite industrial...

you'd be better off staying in sevilla and day-tripping to jerez or el puerto de sta maria or cadiz; el puerto is 10 mins further from jerez on the train; town centre quite pleasant and (as i've said to so many people before, so forgive me if this is familiar) you can get the steam ferry or catamaran across the bay to cadiz, which is lovely; both places are full of good fish restaurants.

sevilla has plenty to occupy you if you stay put - will give you the chance to visit some lesser known districts. if you're interested in any of the above, post and i'll dig out some info.

Thanks portuense for you feedback. I was watching a cooking show Made in Spain and Huelva was mentioned for the jamon, hence my thot of visiting. you are right, staying the extra days in Seville and day tripping makes more sense and will be less trying.

tangwah I've never spent a night in Ronda, if you like peace and quiet it would probably be nice. I really like the old part of Malaga. A classic Andalucian city with it's own unique character.
