B&Bs Kinsale, Wicklow and other
 

Traveling to Ireland for 14 days Aug 26 - Sept 7. Have worked out most of our itinerary but am hung up on B&B's to stay at in a few places. 1st is around Cliffs of Moher. We will have spent a day and half in Connemara and want to make our way toward Dingle via Cliffs of Moher. Plan to hit Cliffs maybe dinner time, spend the night nearby then next moring drive to Dingle catching the Killimer/Tarbet Ferry southbound.

Next B&B in question is in Kinsale and the last is Wicklow Mnts.

A good restaurant/pub grub or two in Cliffs area and Wicklow also needed. I have plenty for Kinsale.

We will be using vouchers for our B&B stays so suggestion preferred from Town & Country Homes or Ireland Farmhouse books.

As Ireland is a very wet country, do you find the B&B's damp and musty at all. Stayed in several in Italy September 2002 and found them to be that way.

Last question first. Most B&Bs are very comfortable though you may find one from time to time that get a bit cold. You should be fine in September.

Though not in Dingle Town itself, The Shores is a fabulous place to stay and they accept vouchers. Annette serves a fantastic dinner at the B&B.

My only personal reccomendation in Kinsale is the Cephas House, but it appears that they don't accept vouchers.

Gus O'Connor's pub in Doolin serves pretty good food which is available most times during the day. The seafood chowder is fantastic and is made up of whatever was caught that day. There are a couple of more upscale places in Doolin also.

Really nice place.. all wood everywhere. Our upstairs room with one double was a little small, but probably bigger than many. But very clean, great shower, etc. Best breakfast I had anywhere.
It's about a 15-20min walk into town, which wasn't too bad, but coming back there's a large hill to come up. Though you could drive I suppose.

When you click on the "reservations" link, it does have a checkmark for using vouchers, but you'd want to contact them to make sure. They are Approved and part of T&C.

To wojazz3: Thanks for the suggestions. Shores looks great but my companions feel to far out of town center. Have put Gus' as a stop when in Doolin.

To amyprib: Four Winds in Kinsale is booked but thanks for suggestion. Looks like it would have fit the bill.

Has anyone stayed at Villa Maria in Kinsale? What did you think?

We've booked Nellie Dee's in Doolin. Any comments?

If you don't stay at the Shores, you will have really missed out. We spent 2 nights there, and the drive over the Connor Pass was a "piece of cake."

Gus O'Connor's is nice for lunch, and the Lazy Lobster, down the road, is nice for dinner. ((b))

Nellie Dee's is a nice little B&B with a lovely host in Lorraine Spencer. The rooms are clean and the bathrooms are on the small side. You might try Landfall House in Kinsale www.landfallhouse.com

Johnnie Fox's pub is a good place to go for drinks or a meal in the Wicklows. It's not very far outside Dublin.

For B&Bs, my favorite in the Wicklows is the Tudor Lodge in Laragh.

We stayed at the Desmond House in Kinsale and found it clean, comfortable, well appointed and had a good breakfast.
