B&Bs in Rome

I am interested in staying at a B&B in Rome in May. Does any one have a suggestion?
We will be staying for 5 nights. We are trying to keep the rate between 110-140 euro.
Would like to have breakfast included. I have read where some B&Bs have bathrooms
outside room, locked only for your use. Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly
appreciated. Thanks

I'm staying here on our next trip. They have rooms with ensuite bathrooms and a smaller room (least expensive and quieter) overlooking the courtyard with a private bathroom right outside the room.

I would look at both hotels and B&Bs in your budget range. In many cases in Italy, it's hard to tell the difference. Also, because you're staying five nights, don't skip looking at accommodations at the top end of your budget or slightly over. Many places have been offering a free night if you stay three, and these offers may extend into the spring. If the offer is in effect now but isn't mentioned for May 2010, ask for it anyway. Can't hurt.

With five nights, you could also consider an apartment.

Some Fodorites will probably suggest using a booking service, Expedia, etc. I have no experience doing this for Rome hotels, so I can't help with that.

Travelfan1's recommendation is in a great location. All of the rooms are described as having en suite bathrooms. Rates for May 2010 are not available on their website, so send them an email inquiry.

I do looking at hotels for July/August 2010. Some hotels increased their price by 5 euros per night for July/August 2010. Is that reasonable? It is not in Rome, though.

In that price range and for 5 nights you could also consider an apartment rental. We had good luck with realrome.com.

A B&B that is often recommended on this forum and that gets good reviews on Trip Advisor is Arco del Lauro

bxl..Did you by any chance book the yellow room at baldassini?

bxl4373 Aug 10th, 2009 05:26 AM

travelfan1,
Yes,I did look at the yellow room. It is 115 euro in May compared to the comfort room at 165 euro and the blue room for 150 euro. I thought we would give it a try at 575 euro for five nights. Thanks to all for your suggestions.

Hi bxl,

I am staying in the Yellow Room at the B&B Baldassini in March 2010 as it is just myself staying there on this next trip. I also stayed at the B&B Baldassini last June with my son.

Did you see the reviews from Tripadvisor?

If you like, you are most welcome to use my discount code (BBB777) for a small discount on your accommodation. This is a discount code I have been given as a past guest and I am able to pass it onto to anyone who is planning a stay at Baldassini.

Also, the owners, Francesco & Isabella, will issue you with your own discount code for a further discount - you can use both the discounts for the same booking!!

The comfort room is the Red Room and it is slightly, and I stress slightly, noisier as it faces the street! The Standard room is the Blue Room - but I think you'd be very happy whichever room you choose.

You'll be so happy you stayed at Baldassini, look forward to your trip report when you return.
