Hi-heading to the UK in 3 short weeks (woohoo!) and am wondering if anyone has stayed at any of the following places and if so-comments please!:<BR>York: Four Seasons Hotel<BR>Betws-Y-Coed: Ty Gwyn Inn<BR>Chipping Campden: Kettlehouse<BR>Thanks!<BR>

Highly recommend the Fouth Seasons Hotel. We stayed there in a family room for 4 last June. The owners were the nicest we found in Great Britain. Very accomodating and interested in us. The rooms were very nice and clean. The B&B is across the street from a boarding school and actually the B&B used to be the headmaster's house. But don't be scared, it was very, very quiet and never heard the kids. The Four Seasons is a flat 7 minute walk to the York Minster. We stay there again in a flash. Actually there was an elderly couple staying there that said this was their 4th time staying at the Four Seasons. They were from Bath and came to York to see family each year and always stayed there. Have fun.<BR>

Hi Ani,<BR><BR>If you look on the Rick Steves web site, under their B&B forum, you will find a lot of positive comments about the Kettle House. There might be a drawbook in that places mentioned in Steves' books, I've heard, tend to get a lot of American guests who also have copies of the book. But it sounds like a very friendly place.

Thanks again! Actually that is why I looked into Kettlehouse in the first place--tried to compare many books and then check them all out as much as possible-thanks!

We stayed at the Ty Gwyn in Betws-y-Coed this past July. It was very nice, I would definitely stay there again. There is a cosy pub area with a fireplace and comfy chairs. The restaurant was very good. Don't know if you've seen the website, but it shows pictures of the rooms and gives a description of the inn. www.tygwyn42.freeserve.co.uk

We also stayed at the Ty Gwyn in '96. Lovely pub as mentioned above. But for me the glory of Betws-Y-Coed is the walking and the lovely LOVELY scenery! You will have a wonderful time in Wales!

Lynn &/or Thyra: Did either of you visit there in the winter?

Ani, we were there in the summer, but would imagine it would be delightful in winter too. We loved Wales, actually better than the Cotswolds, although I'm sure many would disagree with me. I wish we would have spent more time in Wales and less in the Cotswolds(too many tour buses)
