B&B recommendations in Rome?
Does anyone have a wonderful B&B to recommend in Rome? Budget for four girls is between $150-200 night. Thanks so much!

Nicolas Inn -- it was great. If you type in the name in the search box, you will pull up some past threads that mention it. Check out its website (nicolasinn.com) and also it has some good reviews on tripadvisor.com.
In a nutshell -- great, very helpful owners (she is American, he is Italian- lebanese - french); good location; nice breakfast; in an old building on a busy street but very contemporary and quiet inside; nice little trattoria next door (very cute and sweet waiter Fabio will love you 4 girls!); and good price. A nice hotel in Trastevere is Hotel San Francesco; check it out too. Fabulous breakfast buffet and a nice little rooftop bar. Interesting nieghborhood with lots of cafes and resturants and music spots. Have fun! |

There are several very good ones. We stayed at the Daphne Veneto and thoroughly enjoyed it. You might check out www.tripadvisor.com and enter "Rome hotels" in the search box. When you get to that page, you'll see a tab for "B&Bs". Click on it and you'll find lots of great info there. Dave

Check out the Relais Banchi Vecchi. It's a very nice B&B near the Campo dei Fiori.

Hi
What about an apartment? This one has a fantastic terrace - http://www.sleepinitaly.com/apartmen...col%f2III.html Have fun! |
Thanks so much, everyone for the great suggestions! I've been put in charge of this trip for 4 18-year-old girls. Note to self: What was I thinking?!
|
Well, don't worry about the cute waiter I mentioned! The owner of Nicolas Inn, Melissa, is a young American woman and very effecient and helpful. I think your 4 girls would be fine there.

annabelle2,
Thanks so much for suggesting Nicolas Inn. It looks great, but I'm concerned because it doesn't have 24 hour reception. Big problem or not? What do you think? |
Weadles, I don't worry about 24-hour reception myself, but I have to admit that for four 18-year-old girls on their first trip, I think it would be good to have a hotel that had someone there 24 hours.
Have you thought of a convent? I stayed at Istituto Santa Giuliana Falconieri, fabulous location just a couple of minutes from Piazza Navona. They could get two double rooms for 75 Euro each. They now have a guard on duty at night, so there is always someone there. There is a midnight curfew, though, maybe they don't want that. But maybe YOU do! :-d |
Thanks, SusanP! I think you and I are on the same wavelength about this, but I don't think the girls will agree to a midnight curfew in Rome! Any other suggestions? Seems most B&B's and 1 star hotels have abbreviated reception hours. Any help/ideas you have would be great!

I'm afraid I don't have much information about other places. I had originally made a reservation at Residence San Pantaleo but changed to Santa Giuliana because the price was so much lower.
I will note that now that Giuliana has the guard on duty, you do have a little leeway with the curfew. On the night I went to the Opera, I let them know ahead of time that I would probably be late getting back, and it wasn't a problem. I don't think they'd appreciate them being out past the curfew every night, though. |
Hmmm, good point. The owners don't stay there but they are available 24 hours via the hotel phone.
