B&B needed - north of Dublin
 

Hi,
We have 2 days to see the northern Ireland area for Newgrange, Hill of Tara etc. There are several nice towns we've eyed up - Swords, Malahide, to name 2.

I've read about Evergreen and some others in Malahide. It seems like a nice town, but I don't want to rule out Skerries, Trim, or any other place that some of you may have stayed at.

As this is the end of our trip to Ireland, I'm looking for a great, top-notch place to stay for our family.

Is there a must-stay in any town north of Dublin? Any place that has stellar ratings and universally liked?

On our first day in Ireland, we stayed in Slane at the Boyne View B&B. Very nice small B&B with a good view of the river valley. Convenient location

Just incase you were unaware Tara and Newgrange are not Northern Ireland, they are in Southern Ireland. Regarding Skerries and Malahide, they are both very nice places, you could stay in either and be pleased.

We stayed at the San Augustine in Swords. Nice little town, very close to the airport. The B&B is impeccable, and Anna, the owner, is charming. Breakfasts excellent. Needless to say, we'd stay there again.

Why anyone would want to stay somewhere like Swords is beyond me.

Stay in the King Sitric in Howth. It's a famous fish restaurant with a small B&B attached.

We have stayed in Swords a couple of times. It is convenient and a nice small town. There is a great pub there with good food. I prefer Skerries and have friends there...a charming place if you are lucky to get a B&B...there arent many

I've stayed at the Reefs in Skerries and it was very nice. They show up on www.townandcountry.ie in Co. Dublin. The link to the website on T&C will take you to something that has nothing to do with the B&B.

The Reefs sits right on the waterfront a couple miles north of town. Violet Clinton is a wonderful hostess and will have a fresh pot of tea for you when you arrive. The breakfast is very good and enormous.

Cant say enough about Belcamp Hutchinson B&B in Malahide.. we stayed there in June and it was by far the best.. gracious hostess who offered assistance, bus schedules, nightcaps by the fireplace, beautiful rooms and property..

Will everyone stop with this Malahide carry on?

Belcamp Hutchinson is a lovely guesthouse in Malahide north of the airport.

Maxpaste, I enjoyed my stay in Malahide. I stayed at The Grand Hotel and had a water view. Very nice place to walk around.

Lawchick I agree Howth is lovely but not always practical for getting on the Motorway to Newgrange etc. One road in and one out can get tight with traffic and Sunday Drivers. Swords I would not stay unless i was heading on an early flight for the airport. Malahide is pretty scenic on the water and you have a choice of pubs and restaurants in different price ranges. Belchamp Hutch though from what epoeple say and a map I saw is NOT in the willage and you may need a car there.
