B&B in York and Windsor, UK
 

I have been searching this site for a reasonably priced B&B in York and Windsor (between US$100-150)for my family of three adults and not having much luck. We would like it to be within walking distance of the town center. If anyone has suggestions or a good link where I can do a search, I would be grateful. Thank you.

oooo, it feels so good when you find what you are looking for ;;) I used www.smoothhound.co.uk to book our B&B's. Very pleased with their listings.

In York we stayed at Ascot House at 30 East Parade. We were there in 2002; we paid 156 GBP for 3 nights, I'm not positve on the length of stay because I can't find my journal. Ascot House had a good location. It was more like an Inn than a B&B. Less interaction with owners, etc. Hope this helps you. Deborah

the trouble is Ascot House doesn't have any triples - and the family room is only for 2 adults and a child. If you manage to book the cheapest double and cheapest single there, you will fit just w/i your budget.

$100 is only about £20 per person per night so you definitely need to look at the high end of your range. You'll likely be able to find something in York for £85 -£90 triple but in Windsor it may be difficult.

Janisj, Yes, it may be worth booking 1 single and 1 double at Ascot house. I have an email to them inquiring. Thanks for the suggestion.

byr, that's what friends are for ;;) We were very comfy at Ascot House, just don't expect a "warm and fuzzy" visit. It was more impersonal than other stays we had in Scotland and England. I cannot fault our accommodations at all and the location is good for walking into York. It is a couple of block as I recall, one time we did it in a downpour where the streets were flooded. That's something you don't forget.
