B&B in York

Anyone know of a good bed & breakfast in or around York? I searched, but found little answers. Thanks!

Tom

Tom,
Since you've gotten no reply, I found this website which might be helpful.
http://www.york-united-kingdom.co.uk/hotels/b&b/
Also, I have a book called "Special Places to Stay in Britain" by Alastair Sawaday. He lists the following

Mike & Anne Beaufoy
18 St. Paul's Square
York, Yorkshire Y02 4BD
Ph: (011 44) 1904 629884
fax (011 44) 1904 643428
There are 2 ensuite doubles (1 with bath & 1 with shower) & 1 ensuite single. It says "rooms are enormous, colors are bold & Anne has created a lovely secluded garden at the back."

Hope this is helpful.

From this message board July 02

"Stayed at a fabulous B & B, the Bronte House on Grosvenor Terrace, just up the road a ways from the Bootham Bar. The house was beautifully decorated, the hosts were kind and helpful, my single (35 GBP per night) felt huge and luxurious after my tiny cell in London."

The usual recommendation here is a place called the Four Seasons, which I know nothing about. My recommendation is St. Raphael Guest House on Queen Anne's Road, Bootham in York. See http://www.a1tourism.com/uk/raphael.html
We stayed at the Four Seasons Hotel and highly, highly recommend. Do a search because I, and others, have written several comments about this lovely B&B. The best owners and quiet street.

We stayed at the Nunmill House last year and liked it a lot. I believe you can find them on the internet and we reserved by email. It was lovely. Bright, pretty rooms, nice family, calm, and a short walk from the walls. I believe they have won awards, and been highly rated. We got a good price there, too.

I stayed at the Bar Convent. Its a short walk from the station and the railway museum. Just outside Mikelgate. It has a nice museum also.

I'll agree with Kitty. We stayed at the Four Seasons in York and it was fantastic! Very quiet street and the owners were extremely friendly. Good breakfast too.

Staying in March of 2003.

http://www.fourseasons-hotel.co.uk
