B&B in Paris? Mom and teen daughter
 

I am planning on taking my teen-age daughter to Paris in May '08 to celebrate her high school graduation. I've pretty much decided to either rent an apartment or stay in a B&B. I haven't been able to find much information on B&Bs on this forum.

My husband and I loved our B&B experience in Ireland. Has anyone here had experience with Paris B&Bs? Is there a company you recommend? Any reason not to pursue this option? Thanks for your help!

I just got back from France, wrapping up the trip with a couple of days in Paris with my 14 year old daughter.

Originally I thought I might go the B&B route on this fifth trip to Paris. I've stayed in B&Bs in England, Ireland and France, and I thought it would be interesting to stay with local people and have a chance to practice our French. I spent a lot of time looking at options on this website that focuses on B&B arrangements in Paris homes: http://www.bed-and-breakfast-in-paris.com/Dicillin.php I never did find the right place (location, hosts, price). And most of the places had just one or two rooms, so I worried maybe it was a little too "close" with the hosts.

I ended up instead booking into a small economical hotel: Hotel les Grandes Ecoles in the 5th arrondissement. http://www.hotel-grandes-ecoles.com/ This is a really interesting place, kind of on its own private courtyard/street with a beautiful and very peaceful garden. We were five minutes from the top of Rue Mouffetard, which was the absolute ideal location for my daughter. I will definitely stay here again.

Thanks for the replies. I forgot to mention that I am planning to stay in the 5th or 7th, so it's coincidental that you mention Hotel les Grandes Ecoles. It does look nice. How was the service?

I thought the service was just fine, but we've been to Paris several times and didn't need much help. We were able to check into our room early (at 1 pm). Breakfast was served promptly. And the checkout was easy and we got help ordering a cab. We speak some French and tried not to revert to English, but English is spoken.

I thought the hotel was charming... the courtyard arrangement and beautiful garden area was a real surprise. And the location is really very convenient for walking as well as using the Metro.
