B&B/hotel nr Lyon France and Northern Rhone valley

We arrive in Lyon late and are looking for a place to stay for one night out of town towards the South. Also, looking for a B&B in the Norhtern Rhone Valley for 3 nights. We go in Oct and there are two of us. Any recommendations out there please? Thank you.

Are you not seeing Lyon at all? It is worth at the VERY least 1 full day!

I'm a bit confused as to whether you want to be on the outskirts of Lyon, or completely out of the town in the countryside somewhere...

It's worth noting that the southern outskirts of Lyon are pretty grim, as they are dominated by an extremely ugly (and smelly) oil refinery. So you'd need to go further south towards Condrieu and Vienne.

For lodging recommendations, you might like to have a look at www.guidesdecharme.fr - a great resource for "charming" B&Bs and hotels around France. If you click on the map of France and then Rhône Alpes, you'll see all the accommodation shown as little "pins" on the map. They have a couple of options near Condrieu that look nice.

This past October, I spent 2 nights at the Ostellerie de Vieux Perouges, about 20 miles NE of Lyon. While it isn't a B&B, the rates were quite reasonable. My room in the annex was 75 Euros a night for a huge room with an equally large bathroom. There is also a restaurant on the premises. Perouges is a restored 15th century village. Delightful and only 30 minutes from Lyon.

Thank you both for your comments. We fly in and the airport is SE a bit so hope to find somewhere not too far away as we arrive at night and will not be sure of our whereabouts. We do not want in town but maybe 20 to 30 mins in the Southern or SE direction.
Thanks
