Justr returned from 10 days in Ireland. Stayed in Doolin our first night after arriving in Shannon. Stayed at the Seaview B and B (30-40 E per person) was beautifully located with a view of the waves crashing far out in Doolin Harbor, and also 1 block walk from the good pubs and music in the little town (O"conner's had great music every night staring around 9:30 , arrive around 9 for a seat where you can see the muscians, or better yet eat a pub meal there..the salmon was great)
Have fun and be sure to go to the Harbor and watch the saves, the day we were there they were ENORMOUS (and I come from L.A.)

Well, it was a long time ago, but we stayed at Quay West in Westport in 95. They were brand spanking new at the time, but according to the website, it is still owned by David Kelly. It was purpose built, just outside of town, nice big rooms. www.quaywestport.com. (His brother Frank owned a B&B in Galway, but I think it has been sold since then.)

Well, lots of people like to stay in the Salthill area of Galway. But we liked it right in the center of the city.

Two years ago it was about 55E for a double and that would make it about $70 today.
We liked it very much. Not fancy, but the rooms were nice sized, the breakfast good and it was right in the middle of everything.

We enjoyed Daly's House in Doolin.

We stayed at Rose Cottage in Ennis last year (off-season: 30Euro PPS). It was clean and adequate: about 750m to the town center; parking area in front. Carmel Daniels runs the place. Try for a room away from the Pub.

In Ennis I have also stayed at the Temple Gate Hotel & the Queen's Hotel; the Abbey Tourist Hostal (cheapest).

You're not likely to find a Hotel in your price range (40 Euro PPS)

Just returned from a 13-day trip to Ireland. In Doolin, we stayed 3 nights at O'Connors Farmhouse - my husband and I were charged a total of 60 Euro per night. Best price during our whole trip. Joan O'Connor was very hospitable and her breakfasts were very good. Spacious rooms - some sleep 4. Here's their link: http://www.oconnorsdoolin.com/farmhouse.htm

highfield house in Trim -- I stayed there last winter & liked it a lot ( but I like almost everything when I'm traveling). It's quite elegant, tho small overall the rooms are big, at least the two I saw. Beds are soft. The castle view at night is spectacular. And they have hazelnut yogurt for breakfast.
Hope this helps..

Thanks--glad I booked Highfield House!

Does anyone know any decent B&Bs in Derry City for around 25 GBP per person?

cambe May 23rd, 2005 08:31 AM

Hi Erin,

Sorry can't help with B&B's in Derry. I only know hotels and they would be much more than £25 per night. I think you might be hard pushed to get somthing in Derry at that price, in a reasonable area (there are some dodgy areas in Derry so be careful).

As for Maddybenny, I have never been there but my sister goes riding there from time to time and gives it the thumbs up. She is not sure about B&B but says the self catering is one of the best in Ireland and gets excellent reports.

Hope this helps.

We stayed at Cullinan's in Doolin last October. Very nice and definitely within your budget. Charming, clean, nice size rooms, good bathrooms and a restaurant at B&B that is excellent. And close to the pubs and music!
