B&B for Dingle, Ireland
 

Hello Fodorites, I need your advice. Can anyone recommend a good bed & breakfast for Dingle? Would prefer one in town, but would also consider a good one outside Dingle town. <BR>Thanks in advance,<BR>Greg<BR>

I second that choice. We just got back from Ireland and our favorite place was Emlagh House in Dingle. Try to get the Blackberry Room.

Greg--<BR> Try www.familyhomes.ie and look for Clonmara B&B in Dingle. It was our favorite B&B during our 18 day trip in July. Right on Dingle Harbor and about a 10 minute walk into town. Beautiful views from the rooms at the front of the house, huge bathrooms, and great breakfasts. The O'Connors are wonderful, helpful hosts.

The best, most wonderful, beautiful place to stay iS the Greenmount House. Spring for the upgraded room that looks out over the bay....french doors...huge windows....*sigh* The breakfast is huge and has more food than you have ever seen! WONDERFUL!

I've stayed at The Lighthouse, and it was nice, though nothing too memorable. Nice rooms, good location.<BR><BR>ON my AOL travel board, Greenmount house is a favorite, but definitely more expensive. Another place often recommended is Mount Eagle Lodge, in Ventry, west of Dingle town.

May I also suggest Bambury's Guesthouse in Dingle..close to town but located away from the noise of late night revelers, large rooms, power showers, great breakfast. I've stayed just about everywhere in Dingle and prefer Bambury's above all

We were in Dingle the first week of August and stayed at the Heaton House on Dingle Bay. It was a 5 minute walk from town, which made for a nice, quiet night. It was very nice with a great breakfast. Two adults stayed for $110 USD a night.

One more vote for Heaton's. Great breakfast and lovely showers. Clean and modern rooms.

On a recent trip we stayed at the Greenmount House and it was lovely. The breakfast was the best we had in Ireland. They have won many awards. The views are spectacular and it is a short walk to town. I would return again.

She gave a glowing recommendation. <BR><BR> Dingle is my favorite place outside the USA so I will give your advice serious consideration. Greg,<BR>I recommend Millhouse. <BR>Just there for two nights in Sept. A different room each night. Just around the bay from Dingle town right on the water. Outstanding rooms and the Honey Pancakes at breakfast are something. Best room is either # 2 or the front room second floor. Far enough out of town to be quiet but close enough.

Allow me to concur with gogoellen and say you'd be hard pressed to outdo the Greenmount House. My wife and I have been to the Dingle area on more than a half dozen trips and Greenmount wins for its hospitality, handy location (its a short stroll down the street to Dingle town), hearty, wide-ranging breakfasts (consider the oatmeal with whiskey topping) which, by the way, have won several national awards, and striking views of Dingle Harbor. Moreover, the prices are reasonable. Stay at least two nights at Greenmount, preferably three. <BR><BR>In the Dingle region, and assuming the weather is on your side, spend a full day touring nearby Slea Head, and another day taking a trip out to Great Blasket Island. As a preview, visit the Blasket Islands Museum, located on Slea Head. It's a first-rate museum. <BR><BR>The Dingle region is sure to be a highlight of your trip to Erin, especially if you have decent weather.

Returned from Ireland just 3 days ago. Another vote for Greenmount House. The rooms and breakfast were very satisfactory. Also the rates are per room and not per person. One of the best meals we had was at the Beginnish House. Delicious lobster.

I just returned from Ireland as well. Greenmont house was hands down the best place I stayed. The porridge with whisky topping (mentioned above) is great hangover food. :)
