Dear iii,

I too would love a dish of this ravioli right now! It was the perfect summer meal - with a glass of white wine. Life is good!

Since you are salivating, I'll share another favorite - the gnocchi in Capri was out-of-this world. We hiked down to the most beautiful secluded cove with water so aqua you could see the little fish swimming around your ankles. At this cove was a small restaurant, recommended by our concierge. Only a concierge would know about it. They handmake these little round gnocchi the float on just-crushed fresh pomodoro, sprinkled with a spray of fresh herbs. One bite, and you are in heaven! I gobbled these up so fast, that I was tempted to order another portion, but more great dishes were due to arrive, so I held off the temptation. To this day, I wish that I had placed a second order b/c everyday I crave these gnocchi. Go to La Fontelina and check this out for yourself!

Thinkorjus, you are a very poor imitation of moi--kind of like Imitation of Christ. Oh, what irony.

Kiki,
Thank you for your posting. It's always so hard to find someone who dispenses quality shopping advice.

I'm traveling to Florence, Sienna, Lucca and Portovenere in June and cannot wait to shop (on the off hours of site seeing.) Anyone have advice on places I shouldn't miss?

On a similar note, is buying Frette linens less expensive in Italy than the Frette sold in the U.S.?

Hey John G -- I love my Balenciaga. Any advice on where to get good deals on this and other designers in Italy?

Hi Karen,

Frette has a store in Florence, and their sale items are extremely reasonable.

In Florence, if you like passementarie (trimmings and fancy pillows, etc.) there are 2 stores - one called Valmar near Tornobeacci (like 5th Avenue in NY) and Passementarie Toscana in the San Lorenzo square.

Also, the leather market area has stands with some great items. I am very selective and found pashmina-like shawls that were just stunning for $10.

Have a great time!

Kiki

Another 6 figure adult who who is 'wicked awesome'. The best part about being an adult with income is getting to be immature in front of stuffy people. Remember Caddyshack? Which character are tyou?
