In Avignon, don't miss Epicerie. Also, visit Chateauneuf-du-Pape (about 15 minutes outside Avignon), see the ruins and taste some wine, then have dinner at La Mere Germaine in the center of the village. Very memorable.

In Avignon, try La Fourchette - a very typical Provencal restaurant. Near the Luxembourg Gardens, we like L'Epi Dupin on the rue Dupin and Bastide de Odeon.

I like The Café des Artistes, Hiely Lucculus, Christian Etieine and Le Bain-Marie. I also ate one night at La Vielle Fontaine in the Hotel de L'Europe.

In Avignon - Christian Etienne

One of the best restaurants we have ever eaten at anywhere.

Steve, did you sit on the terrace overlooking the Popes Palace?

How could I have forgotten about La Fourchette in Avignon? I agree it's not to be missed (lunch or dinner).

denice7, you must have posted your question twice. Here's what I posted on the other thread:

We have dined twice at Le Petit Bedon on rue Joseph Vermet in Avignon. The dining room was inviting, the reception warm, and the food (traditional provencal cuisine) excellent. They have some wonderful Côtes du Rhône on the wine list. As well as I can recollect, the price was around €100 for two, wine included.

Our last visit was in May 2004, so I hope someone else who has dined there since can confirm that it is still a great restaurant.

OMG, one of my favorite restaurants is L'Epicerie in Avignon. Everything is so fresh and tasty!

Ok lots of Avignon suggestions...what about Paris restaurants...I am sure there are hundreds, but when there next Sept with hubby for our 40th I would love a very romantic but not priced off the charts suggestion. There will be another couple with us, but we will let them join us for the celebration! Any suggestions...we will be in Paris for five days...and its all new to us!

We like most everything....atmosphere is very important and of course...dessert! I have only experienced French American restaurants so I am sure I am in for a treat...

The Clos de Lilas is a lovely restaurant
especially at night. It's in the 6th
Blvd du Montparnasse.

I highly recommend Allard in the 6th arr. But make your reservations at least a month in advance. Great food good value! well within your budget. This restaurant is within walking distance of lux gardens. Another of our favorites is La Bastide Odeon also walking distance. Enjoy Paris we just bought our tickets to go back in January. Can't wait
