Avignon
Looking for recommendations on a private tour for 4 to Chateauneuf du Pape and also a food tour of the area. Will be staying in Puget, about an hour from Marseilles.

Puget is 60km away from the AOC Avignon is not in the AOC Do you have an idea how you would like to combine the transport with the visit? |

I can highly recommend Olivier Hickman of Wine Uncovered. https://www.wine-uncovered.com/ We went with him twice in summer 2022 with two different groups. Both tours were highly personalized to the interests of our group, one group pretty sophisticated, the other not so much. But both trips were wonderful. He was knowledgeable, friendly, patient and fun. One we did with a picnic we brought. Another we had lunch at a winery included. He can either meet you at CNDP and he drives you from there or he can arrange a car service to pick you up at your lodging and bring you there.

Also I see that Puget is not far from Aix en Provence. I can also highly recommend the guide we had there several times in summer 2022. Edouard "Ted" https://tedaixtours.wpcomstaging.com/ We did his market tour, the treasure hunt tour and the petanque lessons. His love of Aix is infectious and he has great contacts with local vendors. One in our group one day had a small medical issue and he went out of his way to track down a specialist, give us directions how to get an appointment there and he followed up after to make sure all was ok.

AOC is what used to be called AC in France. Appellation Controllee (d'Origine) plus a few accents. ;-)
But it's not a place, it's a classification of wine. I didn't understand what you meant when you said Puget was 60 km from the AOC. Where I live, Verdicchio wine from our territory is eligible (within other conditions) for the appellation DOC "Castelli d'Jesi". But noone would say they lived in the DOC. |
I meant to add that "Ted" also offers a food tour in Aix, we didn't do it, but I am sure fun with him.

Similar to DOC in Italy.

Measuring the distance to an AOC is perfectly normal sort of thing to do if you are discussing the distance a visitor needs to travel to get to it. |
