Avg Airfare to Rome from Boston? What's good what's bad?
Hi! I'm a first time traveler out of the country..... I am looking at flights to Rome for June and they are around $1200 from Boston. Is this a good price? Should I wait a couple months and book or is this as good as it gets? My aunt is telling me to wait because it's too much but I'm hesitant to wait and the prices go up or something. Any any any help is so appreciated! Thanks in advance! -Becky

I don't think that is a very good price. It's about what I pay to fly from the west coast. However, even if the price starts out high, that doesn't mean it won't go up (instead of down) even more.
I find that if I wait, the price will go up. But if I buy right away, the price will go down. I know that's not much help, but hopefully you will be luckier than me.

I've been looking for fares to Europe from Boston next summer and am finding them very high, in the range you are seeing. I am hoping they go down a bit in the next month or two, but who knows.
You can try looking on www.kayak.com.

Try orbits.com, you may be able to eliminate two or three hundred and add on an extra layover. Also, definitely check priceline.com and do the name your own price. I know it seems risky, but I had a friend who has a good experience. She went from Orlando to London on United Airlines with maybe one layover and her times were fine (nothing wierd). I don't remember what she paid maybe $530?
Good luck!

Make a deal with your Aunt: if they go up, then SHE pays; if they do DOWN, then YOU pay.
Try also onetravel.com You might look at the aggregator site www.itasoftware.com, too.

There was another thread here about cheaper flights from Providence. Also, can you fly into Pisa or Florence or Venice or ...? The more flexible you are, the better your chances. Do you want Rome and some other city (an open-jaw flight)? How much latitude do you have on the days of the week and the length of the trip? Etc.
